Nordstrom Coupons & Info

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) is a publicly traded company and a high-end fashion retailer that was founded in 1901 by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin. When the first Nordstrom store opened its doors, it was selling only shoes. Since then, Nordstrom greatly expanded its horizons by offering clothing, jewelry, accessories, cosmetics and much more. Some select stores will be spotted to stock furniture and home improvement items.

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, there are 271 Nordstrom locations across the United States today. Of these, 117 include all departments, while 151 do not include furniture and wedding categories. Nordstrom also has a one-of-a-kind clearance store named Last Chance, located in Phoenix Arizona.

John W. Nordstrom emigrated from Sweden to New York City in the late 1880s, but soon moved to Michigan. After briefly working to eat, John headed north – to Canada, and struck gold in 1897. After quickly selling the gold, he used the money to open the first ever Nordstrom storefront in 1901 – known at the time as Wallin & Nordstrom.

The second store didn’t open until 1923, but when it finally did, Nordstrom’s youngest son Elmer assumed the managing role of the location. By 1929, both Wallin and John W. Nordstrom had retired and sold their shares in the company to Nordstrom’s two sons. The third Nordstrom brother joined the family business in 1933, at which time the retail chain also changed its name to what we know it today – Nordstrom.

Throughout the 1970s, Nordstrom had expanded operations into Alaska and California. It wasn’t until 1988 that Nordstrom set out to the East, landing in Washington D.C. In the 1990s, stores finally popped up in Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta, and by the end of 1995, there were 46 department stores open across the United States.

Currently, Enrique Hernandez, Jr. serves as the Chairman of Nordstrom, while much of the current generation of the Nordstrom family serves on the board. Through their guidance, the company has continued to expand, and future operations will see many more stores open worldwide. Delaware, Canada and Puerto Rico will all have stores by the end of 2016 as this growing company sits comfortably in the Fortune 500.

Offers available online through Nordstrom can be used with a promotional code. You can use these codes when both, shopping online, or at a retailer. Some general promotions may be applied automatically, without any need for user input.

Sales Event

Each July, Nordstrom has an anniversary sale. It is the time of year that many popular items are placed on clearance both online and in stores. Many of the items are autumn items, and can be found in the Sale section of their website. There are four additional sales, with women and children’s departments holding sales in May in November, while men’s sales occur in June and December.
